The jazz artist that came to speak with us was by far the best speaker I attended at MSA. His name was Eugene Lowry and if you ever have a chance to go see him, do. He is very talented and has very intelligent and well researched opinions.
He covered the history of Jazz in a very fun and very very intersting way. He introduced himself and explained what he was going to tell us about. This probably wouldn’t have been very interesting to begin with, but the way he approached it was very flexible, I guess you could say it was like Jazz. Even then, it was well put together, after he explained something he would sit down and show us on the piano. He covered how Jazz was born in the church, a little bit of chord theory on accident, and a little bit of biography of himself.
He was a Methodist preacher, and from what I could tell, he had a very firm grasp on the world. I just had to brag about him, and if he ever sees this, consider it my thank you.
